Hou Yifan: ”There are a lot of more things that we could do for women’s chess in the future”
Hou Yifan is a four-time Women's World Chess Champion, and the second-highest-rated female player of all time (only behind Judit Polgar). A former prodigy, she was the youngest female player ever to qualify for the title of grandmaster and the youngest ever to win the Women's World Chess Championship.
In 2019, she decided to focus on her studies, after being granted a Rhodes Scholarship by Oxford University. Hou is now a Professor at the Physical Education Department of Shenzhen University, where once again, she set a new precocity record by becoming the youngest full Professor in the history of the institution at 26 years old.
